The Pumphouse

The Judges agreed this was an exemplary strengthening and restoration project enabling the longevity of an important utilitarian structure with links back to the European settlement of Christchurch. The building was originally built as an engineering solution to address Christchurch’s inadequate 19th century sewage and draining problems.  Over 100 years later a carefully considered engineering solution to bring the buildings back from the brink of demolition and up to full strengthening code was delivered to the owners – a successful partnership between CGW Consulting Engineers and the owners Paddy and Jackie Snowdon.
